Mission of School or Site
Miami University, established in 1809, is ranked among the top 50 national public universities by U.S. News & World Report. As an original Public Ivy, Miami provides Ivy League-quality education at a public school price with an exceptional return on investment. Miami is a place where ambitious students find their purpose and prepare for a lifetime of success.

Artistic Goals of the Commissioned Piece:
The primary location for the commissioned artwork is the exterior academic entrance of the Health Science Building (image above). The commissioned artwork should convey energy and excitement in a celebration of wellness. The work should convey the mission and function of the Health Sciences Building which is "Promote Lifelong Holistic Human Health" to the students and faculty traversing the adjoining quad or entering the building.

Practical Considerations:
Artwork considered for the Miami Health Science project must be durable and suitably maintenance-free. The commissioned work may include kinetic, electrical or lighting elements if easily maintained. No water features should be incorporated into the work. Images of potential artwork site locations are above. Artwork could be exterior sculpture, or interior suspended work, or installed on the frieze that surrounds the lobby area. Interior sculpture is not being considered.
